For Joël Lavoie, music has always been a story of family, connection, and passing knowledge on to others.

It was alongside his father and uncle that he discovered the guitar and wrote his first songs. This passion quickly led him to explore different musical worlds, study performance and composition, and build a career where the stage, studio, and teaching continually inspire one another.

Today, Joël divides his time between performing, music production, and supporting artists. Whether he is on stage with his guitar or behind the console in his studio, his goal remains the same: to bring sincere songs to life and create music that connects with audiences.

Based in northern Alberta, he draws inspiration from the vast landscapes around him, the richness of Western Canada’s Francophone community, and the strong sense of community that defines his region. His influences move freely between blues, folk, roots, jazz, and traditional music, creating a musical signature that is both authentic and timeless.

Through Joël Lavoie Music, he now puts this experience at the service of creativity in all its forms: writing, performing, producing, recording, and supporting artists throughout their journey.
